In the latest escalation of violence between Israel and Iran, Israel’s Health Ministry has confirmed that 12 people were killed and approximately 385 injured in a large-scale missile and drone attack carried out by Iran. The strikes targeted civilian and military infrastructure, resulting in widespread damage and casualties across central and southern parts of the country.
According to the ministry, seven victims remain in serious condition, while nearly 300 suffered minor injuries. Hospitals across the country treated the wounded overnight as air-raid sirens echoed through cities like Tel Aviv, Haifa, and Ashdod.
This surge in violence follows Israel’s own retaliatory strikes on Iranian nuclear and military facilities just days prior, part of a growing pattern of direct confrontation between the two adversaries.
Drone and Missile Barrage
Iranian state media has confirmed the attack as part of Operation True Promise III, involving more than 100 missiles and explosive-laden drones. Israel’s Iron Dome defense system successfully intercepted a significant portion of the barrage, though several projectiles managed to reach populated areas.
In response, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have mobilized reserves and launched additional counteroffensives targeting suspected missile launchers and military sites deep inside Iranian territory.
International Condemnation and Civilian Toll
While international actors urge de-escalation, civilians continue to pay the heaviest price. In a related humanitarian tragedy, 12 Palestinians were reported killed and dozens injured when Israeli artillery hit a Gaza distribution point for aid.
The United Nations and Red Cross have issued urgent calls for ceasefire, warning that continued hostilities could spark a broader regional war.
What’s Next?
Israel has warned of a sustained campaign if Iranian attacks continue, while Iran has pledged to respond “with maximum force” to any further Israeli incursions. Meanwhile, both countries have placed their military forces on high alert, and emergency shelters remain open across major urban centers.
As the world watches closely, the possibility of a wider Middle East war looms—unless diplomatic solutions can be quickly pursued.
